Overview

Character:

This breed is very loyal and pleasant. Basset Hounds are very friendly and make great companions for families, including those with children or other animals. These hounds love food and tend to howl rather than bark.

Country of Origin:

France.

Care

Training:

Training Basset Hounds can be difficult and requires patience and perseverance. However, with these traits, these dogs can be housebroken and taught basic commands.

Activity:

While not as active as some other hounds, Basset Hounds do like to exercise regularly. These animals have a natural endurance and particularly enjoy long walks and hikes.

Ownership:

Basset Hounds make excellent companions for families and children. Since these dogs do not like to be left alone, it’s best to have another pet to keep the Basset Hound company if all human members of the household must be away during the day.
