Country of Origin:

Russia.

History:

This breed originated in Russia during the 20th century, just following the second world war. However, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, these dogs have become more popular in other parts of the world and the American Kennel Club recently recognized the breed in 2004.

Due to their dominant nature, it’s very important that these dogs receive early socialization and obedience training. They respond best to firm and consistent training techniques.

Activity:

Black Russian Terriers are very active and require plenty of exercise. As working dogs, they prefer to have a job to do. These dogs perform well in agility trials and dog sports.
