History:

The Fawn Brittany Griffon is an ancient breed of scent hound, likely the oldest of France’s scent hounds. It is known that a pack of these hounds was owned as far back as the fourteenth century, and Fawn Brittany Griffons were commonly used for wolf hunting right up until the nineteenth century. During the nineteenth century, the breed began to decline and became very rare. In a successful attempt to preserve this breed and its quality, the Club de Fauve de Bretagne was established in 1949.

Calm and affectionate, these dogs are great to have around. Typically, Fawn Brittany Griffons live in packs in kennels and are most suitable for country living. These dogs require plenty of exercise as well as regular grooming and attentive ear care.
