Character:
Majorca Shepherd Dogs are high-spirited and courageous dogs. While they are excellent workers, they can also make very lovable companions.
Country of Origin:
Spain.
History:
This breed originated on the Balearic Islands which lie off the coast of Spain. In existence since the 1700s, the Majorca Shepherd Dog was developed to guard farms and to be able to withstand the heat of the Mediterranean region.
Name:
Additional names for this breed include Ca de Bestiar and Perro de Pastor Mallorquin.
Temperament:
Majorca Shepherd Dogs have a tendency to be belligerent and aggressive. However, this can be controlled with proper training at an early age.

Training:
Majorca Shepherd Dogs require early training and socialisation to pretend aggression.
Activity:
These dogs are quite active and require regular exercise.
Ownership:
Majorca Shepherd Dogs are best suited for country life where they will have lots of space and will receive plenty of exercise. When properly trained and socialised, these working dogs can also make excellent companions. The life expectancy for this breed typically ranges from eleven to thirteen years.
