This breed was developed by crossing English hounds with French hounds, likely beginning during the sixteenth century. By the late 1800’s, Anglo-French Hounds were highly prized for their exceptional hunting abilities. Now, these dogs are typically used in packs to hunt large game and come in two different varieties — the Great Anglo-French Hound and the Small Game Anglo-French Hound.
This breed is also known as the Chien Anglo-Français.
