History:

Bull Terriers were developed by the English in the 1800s by crossing the Bulldog with different types of terriers. Originally, Bull Terriers were developed as fighting dogs and were approximately the size of today’s miniature variety of the breed. Miniature Bull Terriers were officially recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1992.

Temperament:

Miniature Bull Terriers have the same temperament as full-sized Bull Terriers. These dogs love to be around people but tend not to get along very well with other dogs and other pets. Sometimes stubborn, Miniature Bull Terriers are also courageous and are usually quite tolerant of strangers.

Miniature Bull Terriers require significant early socialization and obedience training.

Activity:

This breed is very active and playful during the puppy stage. As Miniature Bull Terriers grow older, their energy level decreases and owners must take care to maintain a proper diet and a sufficient level of exercise in order prevent obesity and related medical problems.

Ownership:

Miniature Bull Terriers are great for owners who love Bull Terriers but don’t have a lot of space. These dogs don’t require much grooming and have very clean habits. Miniature Bull Terriers make very loyal and faithful companions and generally enjoy good health. Miniature Bull Terriers may not get along with other dogs and need to be treated carefully by children.
