Cat Herbs for Cancer

People that have cats will tell you that they are like family to them. Many people consider their cats to be like their children. They feed them, bath them, play with them and love them just as they would children. This is why it is so difficult to hear such news as your cat has Cat Cancer. More and more people are turning to herbal treatments to help their cat get through this difficult time.

The first thing you need to do is find out all about the type of cancer your cat has and what types of treatments are available. While there are conventional treatments to help get rid of your cat’s cancer, these treatments can take a toll on your cat’s immune system. Herbal treatments can be used without the side effects that most cancer-fighting drugs have. Most of the herbal treatments can also be used in conjunction with conventional treatments to help fight off the cancer. Below is a list of the most common herbs that are used for cancer in cats. Herbs can easily be administered to your cat in a dried form and placed in their food or a treat.

Herbs that work for Cats

Alfalfa – This has been known as a great herb for cancer prevention as it reduces the growth of cancerous cells.

Burdock root – This herb is known for helping with liver function so that the body can get rid of toxins.

Dandelion – This herb also helps with waste removal as it is a diuretic. It also helps to stimulate the liver.

Echinacea – This herb is very effective when it comes to the immune system as it helps to stimulate it.

Garlic – Garlic is well known for its medicinal properties for humans as well as pets. It helps to build up the immune system and helps the body build good cells.

Green tea – This also helps to build the immune system and it has shown to be very helpful with its antioxidants for those that suffer with skin and stomach cancers.

Red clover – This herb has done wonders for cancer as it helps to strengthen the lymphatic functions as well as inhibiting tumors.

Milk Thistle – This herb works with the liver to help protect it from toxins and by-products. It is best used to treat Cat Liver Disease.

Essiac Tea – This tea is known to build up the immune system.

Melatonin – This can help your cat get the rest that it needs when going through a difficult time.

Grape Seed – This seed helps to get rid of such symptoms as breathing trouble and cardiac trouble.

Colostrum – This is a great Cat Antioxidants and it helps to build the immune system.

Astragalus – This herb can also boost the immune system in cats.

Mushrooms – Reishi, Shiitake, Maitake – Japan and China have used mushrooms for centuries for preventing cancer. Mushrooms help to build the immune system as well as help with inflammation. Be careful to avoid picking wild mushrooms though as you some mushrooms are poisonous to cats and you do not want your cat to suffer with Cat Mushroom Poisoning.

If you have a cat that is suffering with cancer, you need to talk to your veterinarian as soon as possible. Discuss the options of herbal treatments. The herbs can help with a variety of issues that arise with cancer and they are safe to use. This way you know you are giving your cat all that you can.
