Plummer Terriers are intelligent and alert dogs with bright personalities. While hardy and active, these dogs are also very loyal and affectionate family companions.

History:

The Plummer Terrier was developed by Dr D. B. Plummer of Great Britain during the 1970’s and 1980’s. Plummer created this breed by crossing beagles, bull terriers, fell terriers, and Jack Russell terriers. While the Plummer Terrier breed was originally plagued by a wide variety of genetic problems, many of these issues have now been resolved and others are still being addressed as the breed continues to develop.

Name:

The Plummer Terrier was named for its developer, Dr D. B. Plummer.

Plummer Terriers are adaptable, courageous and tenacious dogs. They are also very trustworthy with friends and family members.

Training:

Intelligent and adaptable, Plummer Terriers are quite trainable.

Activity:

This breed is lively and active, requiring plenty of regular exercise.

Ownership:

While the Plummer Terrier is predominantly kept as a working dog, especially for foxhunting and ratting, this breed is also suitable for family companionship. However, Plummer Terriers are not suitable for city living, as they are high energy dogs with a significant exercise requirement. These affectionate and adaptable terriers are typically equally at home in the kennel or in the house.
