Hi there Dr. Huntingford,
I am writing to you about a patient of mine, Chloe. She is a 12 yr, spayed female shih tzu who I diagnosed with pituitary HAC this past summer. She is currently on trilostane (1 mg/kg BID). I would say her disease is moderately managed on the current protocol. Her owner recently found a reference to Adrenal Harmony Gold, and is interested in using it. I do not have any experience with it. Can you please let me know about transitioning to this product. Would it make sense to use a combination of the two?
Thanks for your time.
Lindsay
Hi Lindsay
I usually replace one dose of conventional medication with one dose of herbal and try that for 1 month, recheck levels and see how the pet is doing. In the case of once a day medication I give 1/2 dose of each, eg. Herb in am, med in pm. I have had a number of patients on both meds so yes I frequently do combos– whatever works best for the patient.
Please let me know if you would be interested in any samples or more info about our other products.
Best to you,
Dr Jan
